IPRT Educational ActivitiesIPRT is involved in a variety of educational activities to provide the best education possible to secondary students, undergraduate and graduate ISU students, and teachers. Educational ProgramsIPRT supports and administers the Science Bound program, which aims to increase the number of diverse Iowans who pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. IPRT also supports the Ames Laboratory/Iowa State University Science Bowls, which offers high school students from throughout Iowa an opportunity to test their scientific knowledge. NDE EducationIPRT also offers a four-hour seminar that introduces nondestructive and the six most common NDE methods. The Seminar covers the principles, common applications and the strengths and limitations of each technique. Hands-on demonstrations are included using the IPRT’s portable equipment. The seminar can be delivered free of charge at any location within the state of Iowa. Continuing education credit is available for this seminar. Student EmploymentIPRT employs dozens of graduate students who address real-world scientific problems and contribute to IPRT’s excellence while seeking degrees. Graduate students make up about one-third of IPRT’s scientific staff and enable the IPRT to conduct high-quality research for the lowest possible cost. |
