Center for Sustainable Environmental Technologies (CSET)

CSET

Syngas cleaning research includes operations for removal of particulate, tar, sulfur, nitrogen and other trace contaminants.

The Center for Sustainable Environmental Technologies (CSET), a member of IPRT since its inception, seeks to promote, develop, and demonstrate thermochemical technologies for the production of fuels, chemicals, and power from biomass and fossil fuels.

Current Research

The Center performs research on a variety of thermochemical technologies, including:

  • Gasification
  • Fast Pyrolysis
  • Bio-oil to fuels
  • Catalysis
  • Biocatalysis
  • Torrefaction of biomass
  • Biochar production for agronomic applications and carbon sequestration nutrient recycling between production agriculture and biofuels manufacturing
